Team Spirit, Team Falcons, MOUZ and Team Vitality moved to the brink of advancing to the playoffs with their second wins in as many days at ESL Pro League Season 24 on Sunday in Katowice, Poland.
Falcons and MOUZ secured their second consecutive 2-0 victories, while Spirit and Vitality eked out 2-1 wins. Spirit and MOUZ as well as Vitality and Falcons will face off Monday with the winners clinching the first two playoff berths.
The $1 million Counter-Strike 2 event runs through Oct. 11, with the group stage featuring 16 teams in a Swiss system format. Five rounds of group-stage matches, which are best-of-three, run through Wednesday.
The top eight teams advance to the playoffs, which are single elimination starting Friday and will be best-of-three until the grand final on Oct. 11, which is best-of-five.
Falcons completed their sweep of Aurora Gaming with a 13-4 win on Mirage followed by a 13-10 win on Dust II. MOUZ swept Furia behind a 13-4 triumph on Cache and a 13-7 victory on Mirage.
Vitality opened its 2-1 defeat of Natus Vincere with a 13-5 victory on Anubis, dropped Game 2 13-5 on Nuke and then won the decisive game 13-4 on Mirage. Spirit rallied for its win over PARIVISION, dropping the opener 13-11 on Ancient before rallying behind a 13-6 victory on Dust II and a 13-5 triumph on Anubis.
There were also four matches Sunday between teams who lost their opening matches on Saturday, with the four losers set to face elimination on Monday.
Legacy swept ShindeN 13-8 on Nuke and 13-11 on Mirage. 9z Team finished off a 2-0 win over TYLOO with a 13-10 triumph on Nuke and a 13-2 beatdown on Mirage. BetBoom Team pulled out a hard-earned sweep of M80, winning 16-14 on Cache and 13-11 on Anubis. 1w Team was the only team in the Round 2 low matches to not sweep, beating G2 Esports 2-1 on a 13-11 triumph on Dust II and a 13-8 victory on Mirage around an uncompetitive 13-1 loss on Ancient.
